Erik ten Hag has insisted Jadon Sancho‘s talent is ‘not the issue’ after the exiled Manchester United winger helped Borussia Dortmund reach the Champions League semi-finals.

Sancho started both legs of the Champions League quarter-final as the Bundesliga side earned a 5-4 aggregate win over Atletico Madrid.

The winger rejoined Dortmund in January on a loan deal until the end of the season amid a feud with Ten Hag.

Sancho had been exiled after he hit back at the manager’s claims that he had been dropped for his ‘training performance’ back in September on social media.

Ten Hag confirmed he had followed the quarter-final second leg and acknowledged the result was ‘good news’ for Sancho, but stressed the winger’s talent is not the issue for Man United

‘Of course, I follow international football and follow the players on loan at other clubs. It was a fantastic game, Dortmund against Atletico Madrid,’ Ten Hag said.

‘A great performance from Dortmund and also for Jadon it’s good news.

‘He made his contribution to the result for Dortmund.

‘We know Jadon Sancho is a fantastic football player, so that is not a surprise for us. That is not the issue.’
