An airport worker who met her flight attendant husband while opening the plane doors said the romantic interaction was ‘love at first flight’ – as the pair celebrate 25 years together.

Tiffany Fulcher, from Houston, Texas, first locked eyes with her future husband Jarrod Fulcher while opening the doors of a United Airlines flight in 1999.

The then 19-year-old was working as a gate agent at Salt Lake City International Airport, Utah, when a chance encounter changed the course of her life forever.

Tiffany was preparing to welcome the passengers who had arrived from Houston, Texas, when 25-year-old flight attendant Jarrod greeted her on the other side.

They have since welcomed two children along the way - 22-year-old Bailey and 20-year-old Jacob

The couple explained how they had felt an ‘instant spark’ after exchanging glances – with Tiffany even asking Jarrod out for drinks within minutes of meeting.

After initially turning her down, Jarrod joined Tiffany and some colleagues at a 24-hour café near the airport.

Recalling the romantic moment they crossed paths, Tiffany, who now works as a store manager, said: ‘It was late at night, and I was standing on the opposite side of the door opening the aircraft, and he was on the airplane.

‘We locked eyes, talked for a minute, and I was thinking, “Wow he’s so cute.” We definitely had that instant spark. It was like love at first sight.

‘I think I probably asked how the flight was, then I said, me and some of the staff are going for some drinks tonight if he’d like to join us.

‘We were still standing in the door of the plane. I knew I wanted to hang out with this guy.

‘Immediately, he said “no,” and that he was tired, but could we plan it for the next week?

‘But I basically said, “Whatever,” so he saw it as a dare and decided to come out.’

Following a whirlwind romance, the couple tied the knot in 2000, and have been happily married for 24 years

Jarrod, who still works as a flight attendant for United Airlines, agreed it was love at first sight for him too – admitting his whole life may have been different if they hadn’t crossed paths that day.

The 51-year-old said: ‘She opened the door of the plane and I thought she was beautiful.

‘We were just chatting as customers were walking off the plane.

‘It was like love at first sight. I thought she was absolutely beautiful, and still think that now.

‘She’s a gorgeous person. I never expected my future wife to be behind those doors.’

Tiffany, now 44, said: ‘I was thinking, “I really like this guy.” We were talking about where we grew up, our families and all that stuff.’

‘He was living in Florida at the time and I was in Salt Lake so we had to make it work long distance. It was before cell phones so we had to make it work without all that instant connection.

‘He ended up moving to Salt Lake after a few months. I knew it was serious the fact he up and moved that far.’

'It's definitely a unique way to meet your husband. I had no idea my future husband was behind those plane doors,' she dished

The couple, who now have two children, said that they have been 'inseparable from that moment on'

'If that one flight was cancelled, my whole life would've been different,' Jarrod concluded

‘It’s definitely a unique way to meet your husband. I had no idea my future husband was behind those plane doors.

‘It was like a film. A lot of people can’t believe that’s how we met.’

He shared: ‘We were inseparable from that moment on. I left my apartment and boat in Fort Lauderdale so I could be in Salt Lake with her as much as possible.

‘My phone bill was $500 a month talking to her for four hours a night! So I decided to just move to be with her.

‘If that one flight was cancelled, my whole life would’ve been different.

‘Even if I was standing at the back of the plane instead of the front – everything was pure chance,’ Jarrod concluded.
