Former World’s Strongest Man Eddie Hall has smashed the record for the hardest punch in the world, just two weeks after UFC star Alex Pereira set the prior benchmark.

Pereira obliterated Francis Ngannou‘s old record on the PowerKube, scoring 191,796 units of power to land the hardest punch in the world. Ngannou had previously topped the list with 129,161, before UFC fighter Joe Pyfer beat that with a score of 170,218 units.

The PowerKube is a device that measures the power of a single strike, with a padded target hooked up to a computer and data delivered in real time.

Hall has now recorded a new landmark high with a staggering 208,901 on the machine.

The 36-year-old won the World’s Strongest Man contest in 2017 and retired from his strongman career the following year.

He has since been involved in boxing and was supposed to make his MMA debut in February.

Hall was due to fight Mitchell Hooper – who won last year’s World’s Strongest Man – before the event was postponed.

The former strongman raised his arms in celebration in a video shared by TNT Sports after realising that he beat the score of a UFC champion to go top.

UFC light heavyweight champion Pereira’s figure on the machine was impressive, as he weighs around 205lb compared to Hall who is around 360lb.

Dana White, after Ngannou set his best score in 2018, said: ‘His punches are equivalent to 96 horse power.

‘That’s equal to getting hit by a Ford Escort going as fast as it can.

‘And it’s more powerful than a 12-pound sledgehammer from full force overhead. Holy s***.’

PowerKube measures speed, power and endurance. The impact power that Ngannou and Pereira scored combines power (measured in watts) with energy (measured in joules) to form a single, concise metric that accurately reflects a combat athlete’s striking power, according to the company’s website.

‘And it’s more powerful than a 12-pound sledgehammer from full force overhead. Holy s***.’

Speed is measured by timing the gap between a strike and the on-screen trigger prompting it and endurance over a high volume of strikes.

Pereira’s landmark figure came days before he beat Jamahal Hill via knockout in the first round of their bout at UFC 300 earlier this month.
